So people say greenday sold out because of dookie and their music changed but here's straight evidence that greenday's music was always greenday's music. This adds more confusion to why people believe they "sold out." Because they signed to a label and could support themselves by playing these songs? In 2024, I'm no longer a greenday fan. The new era of greenday doesn't appeal to me. But, they hold a special place in my heart and youth, and i always wondered why they had to take so much slack about this "sellout" nonsense. Anyhow. I love this!

while the HD remasters and original recordings with extra recordings are cool, theres nothing that beats this original crusty version i had ripped to my ipod mini in 2013

So far as we know, Green Day had not released any recordings by this point in their career (their first one was in May 1989). Yet, you see these 16 year olds playing as far as Tampa, FL with people even singing the lyrics to their songs at a packed venue. This is nothing but incredible.

The crowd noise ruins it. It gives a unrealistic version of the gig. I remember these days well, Green Day were super loud and you couldn't hear the crowd at all during any part of the songs. You couldn't hear yourself yell or scream during a song, let alone anyone else. The only way to get this sound mix would have been to go right down the front and lie down in the middle of the pit.

Amazing even with pretty crappy quality video you can hear how tight they were, how well Billie Joe can sing and how great the harmonies are - with no modern trickery - just 3 guys and their instruments. And to think they are only 18 at the time! I am the same age as them and was turned on them by friends in LA who'd had Green Day play their house party (insane)! And I was lucky enough to see them on their first UK tour at TJ's in Newport (400 capacity). At the time it was like they were mine, my secret, so when Dookie came out the secret was out which came with mixed feelings. Loved Dookie and subsequent albums so for me it was more about they were no longer just mine than them selling out - never really bought into that punk elitist BS. Husker Du, Bad Religion, ALL, Replacements, Social Distortion, Suicidal Tendencies signed for majors but dont get the same criticism.

Still waiting for someone to post Green Day at 17 Quiet Lane. Come on Al…
